Classic Game Room HD reviews RED FACTION GUERRILLA from THQ and Volition. This is the 3rd Red Faction game but is it the best? The series returns after nearly a decade and takes place decades after the first game. No longer straight forward first person shooter, this new Red Faction allows the player to run around a huge environment on Mars and destroy practically everything in sight for salvage to help them free mars from the EDF. This CGRHD review of Red Faction Guerilla (not Red Faction Gorilla or Red Faction Gurilla) has gameplay from Red Faction on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (this is the Xbox 360 version, not PS3 version of Red Faction). It has a large storyline and many, many missions and guerilla actions to play out. Destroy things with a variety of cool weapons that can be upgraded along the way. Drive vehicles and wipe the Martian floor with EDF soldiers after smashing them with a huge sledgehammer. While CGR still prefers the original masterpiece, this new Red Faction is a lot of fun thanks to solid programming and GEO MOD 2.0. Yes, Geo Mod has stolen the show and is the engine of destructive mayhem within Red Faction Guerilla. Blast buildings, explode trucks and bring down structures with explody goodness and flying shards of metal. Red Faction delivers Geo Mod 2 and makes CGR want Geo Mod 3 soon! The 360 version has achievement points for Red Faction Guerilla and the PS3 version has Playstation trophies. Coming soon to PC, no word on the Vectrex version yet …

Classic Game Room HD reviews TRANSFORMERS THE REVENGE OF THE FALLEN for Xbox 360, aka Transformers 2 review for Xbox 360. This is the same version that appears on PS3 Playstation 3 also called Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. This CGRHD review of TRANSFORMERS 2 has gameplay footage from Xbox 360 in HD showing game play in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Published by Activision, there are numerous versions of this game available. This version, the 360 and PS3 version. Also the different Wii version, two different flavors (Autobot and Decepticon) available for Nintendo DS and a PSP variant of the game. Here on Xbox 360 the gameplay is fast and fun, you get to collect and play as numerous Transformers!!! Mighty robots, mighty machines…. or was that Go Bots…? More than meets the eye!! There we go, thats Transformer lingo. Play two different campaigns, Autobot and Decepticon. The missions are broken into little chunks of explosions as you complete things in a race against the clock. Blow that up, shoot that thing, capture humans, etc… Play as Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, Sideways or the lame-ass , goody-two shoes Autobots. Transformers 2 for Xbox 360 has XBLA support for multiplayer and leaderboards, it also has a free roam mode that you can unlock and roam around freely shooting tanker trucks. Classic Game Room HD reviews the original DUALSHOCK Controller for Sony Playstation 1. The Dualshock 1 controller is grey and classy, like a sea lion with analog controls. This welcome addition to the PS1 family in 1998 brought dual analog sticks and an awesome rumble feature to video games like Gran Turismo 1! Far superior to the original PS1 controller (which was a good controller in its own way), the PSone Dualshock controller was hefty and featured larger L2 and R2 buttons as well as the analog sticks. Further refined with the PS2 Dualshock 2 controller, the Dualshock line now continues with the PS3 Dualshock 3. So check it out, are you looking for a budget controller for PS2 games? Is the PS1 Dualshock 1 controller all that you can find? It works with Playstation 2 except it does not have analog button buttons, just analog sticks. Part 1 of 2. Classic Game Room HD reviews Wii SPORTS RESORT for Nintendo Wii. Bowling, golfing, sword fighting, archery, wakebording, air sports, basketball, frisbee and canoeing, its all here with Wii Sports Resort for Nintendo Wii for use with the Wii Motion Plus attached to your Wii controller. The WiiMotion Plus is supposed to give better response and movement to games like table tennis and golf, and maybe it does. Regardless, this feels like more of the same from Nintendo who has not been able to out do their best two games, Bowling and Golf! You get more bowling and golf with Wii Sports Resort, set in a resort location where you can bike around the beautiful island that reminds me of another game…. (Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 anyone??) Wii Sports Resort is a great game from 2 player action with many of the sports best played against a friend. If youre looking for well-made family video gaming that will keep your kids occupied for days this is a nice game to look at. Normally high Nintendo production value and excellent use of the Wii controls make it a playable game to get off the couch and enjoy. Classic Game Room HD reviews TRON for Xbox 360. Four games in one! The concept of a collection of minigames was something of a rarity in 1982 and Tron exploded in arcades with light cycles, spiders, tanks and the MCP. Tron the video game was even more popular than Tron the movie at the time because of an amazing, memorable arcade cabinet and glowing blue joystick. How does Tron on Xbox 360 from XBLA compare? Controls are an issue but the gameplay in Tron still rocks today. Tron is an affordable download from Xbox Live and has Achievement points. Sadly the blue joystick and firing control knob are nowhere to be found and aiming is awkward with the 360 controller. Part 1. Classic Game Room HD reviews FRONT MISSION 5 for the Japanese Playstation 2 PS2 video game console. CGR gives an in depth, multi-part review of Front Mission 5 showing gameplay and footage from the game. This turn based strategy game involving giant robot mecha is only available as a Japanese game with Japan only language and region encoding. CGR has a Japanese PS2 to play Thunder Force 6, well, heres another winner on the PS2 from our friends overseas (who screwed us over again!). FM5 seems to play like Front Mission 4 except with higher quality animations, graphics, fluidity and directing of the motion video anime sequeneces. If you enjoyed FM3 and FM4 and can score a Japan region PS2 this game should feel very familiar to you even if you cant read any of it. The menu structure is similar, the combat is turn based and awesome and the giant robots kick so much butt it isnt funny. Watch as huge mechs stomp cities and other robots into oblivion and cause billions of dollars in property damage. The gameplay is similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and other turn based games from Squaresoft and Square Enix, however CGR thinks the style of the game is 2nd to none. Classic Game Room HD reviews DEFENDER (again!), this time for the Playstation 1 video game console, or PSX, PSone, PS1, etc…. This is from the Williams Greatest Arcade Hits collection which also includes arcade emulated copies of Robotron 2084, Joust, Sinistar, Bubbles and Defender 1 and 2!! Digital Eclipse was involved with this version (you should know them from the Xbox Live Arcade games on XBLA). Defender was released in 1980 in the arcades and is regarded as one of the best horizontal scrolling space ship shooters ever created. Designed by Eugene Jarvis, Defender pits you and your spaceship against countless enemy foes, landers, swarmers and pods who are kidnapping humans and turning them into mutants. If you want to play Defender but dont have an arcade stand up machine this may be the best and most affordable way to do so, as soon in this CGRHD review!
